PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Musta Laine (ranked 86 p4p, 16 weight class) and Robin Yount (ranked 212 p4p, 35 weight class). Laine comes into the arena with Disturbed - Sound of Silence blaring out of the sound system. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yount has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Yount there as he acknowledges the shot.

Laine shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Yount's guard.
Yount is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Laine stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Yount swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Yount has control of Laine's left arm, preventing Laine from doing any damage.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Laine has his foot on Yount's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Yount works his way back into a safe position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Laine wants to sweep but no luck.

Laine working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Yount doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Yount manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Yount got a little sloppy there for a moment and Laine has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Yount has managed to get both his arms back between Laine's legs - danger averted.

Laine had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Yount defends it easily.

Laine is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Laine throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Yount throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Laine.
Yount lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

The fighters circle momentarily. Yount darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.

Laine connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Laine changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Yount tries to avoid it but Laine manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Yount to the ground. Yount escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Yount is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Laine is defending well for now.
Yount stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.

Laine tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Yount's elbow.

It looks like Musta Laine has been cut.
Laine wants to take the fight to the mat but Yount manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
