Cardinal has chosen In Mourning - In The Failing Hour as his entrance music. Joey Cardinal has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Tricio DaCamara!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Joey Cardinal!
The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Steve Smith and Elvis Blanc.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
DaCamara doesn't manage to clinch there - Cardinal circles away.
Cardinal feints and as DaCamara raises his hands in defense, Cardinal changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
DaCamara avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Cardinal pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. DaCamara is keeping the position for now.
DaCamara trying to control the position.
Cardinal stands and throws DaCamara's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
DaCamara throws a couple of punches but he's in a bad position and they don't land.
DaCamara is trying to buck Cardinal off.
DaCamara taking punishment in the form of punches.
Cardinal decides to take the fight back to the feet.
DaCamara shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Cardinal wants to sweep but no luck.
Cardinal lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for DaCamara!
Cardinal wants to control the pace but DaCamara is squirming around nicely.
Cardinal jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… DaCamara is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by DaCamara and Cardinal has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Cardinal in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Cardinal cracks DaCamara with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Cardinal lands a decent elbow from side control.

Cardinal cracks DaCamara with a big right hand but DaCamara just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
DaCamara tries to strike but it doesn't land.
DaCamara is breathing heavily.
Cardinal tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Cardinal has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Cardinal tries for a kimura but DaCamara is defending well.
Cardinal with the ground and pound but DaCamara regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Cardinal has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
DaCamara is working to get back to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cardinal takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Cardinal is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
DaCamara shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Cardinal counters with a nice double leg into guard.
DaCamara is looking to stand up but Cardinal isn't so interested in that idea.
DaCamara is working an open guard so Cardinal takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Cardinal gets the takedown into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cardinal scores with punches from side control.

Cardinal has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Cardinal stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Cardinal scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Cardinal is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. DaCamara looks calm but he's in trouble here. Cardinal gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. DaCamara is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Cardinal lets go of the hold and DaCamara can pop his arm back in it's socket.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Joey Cardinal!
