Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kato Kaelin (ranked 8541 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Smith (ranked 8804 p4p, 0 weight class). Joe Smith will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kato Kaelin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Smith!
The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Lou da Vinci and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Kaelin shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kaelin misses with the combination.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Kaelin as he jumps to the side.

Smith closes the distance and clinches.
Kaelin could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Kaelin pulls guard.
Smith trying to control but Kaelin is working from the bottom.
Smith has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kaelin is proving hard to escape from.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Kaelin has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Smith is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Kaelin.

Smith might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kaelin haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Kaelin gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Smith wants to get up but he can't break Kaelin's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Kaelin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Smith would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kaelin throws a sloppy head kick and Smith moves out of range easily.

Kaelin drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Kaelin stays in close to Smith's body and controls the position.

Smith can't keep his opponent in guard - Kaelin advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Kaelin slows the pace down in half guard.
Smith is looking to escape.
Kaelin moves nicely into side control.
Kaelin wants to stand but Smith has his arm trapped.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
A lull in the action here.
Kaelin works to advance to full mount. Smith defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Kaelin controlling the pace for now.
Smith is working to get back to half guard.

Kaelin looking to secure an arm triangle but Smith defends it well.

Kaelin goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Smith is on top in guard.

Kaelin doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Smith decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kaelin, up you get!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Smith slaps away a takedown attempt from Kaelin, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kato Kaelin. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Smith shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kaelin defends it nicely.

That was a close second round but I would say that Kato Kaelin will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Smith misses with a takedown attempt - Kaelin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kaelin is looking for a kimura but Smith is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Kaelin to get the leverage.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Smith tries to clinch up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Smith tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Smith takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Kaelin swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Smith leaves Kaelin with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kaelin as he avoids it easily.

Kaelin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Smith on his heels. He'll look to pass Smith's guard now, I'm sure.
Kaelin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Smith on the ground.
Kaelin wants to pass the guard but Smith is keeping the position.
Kato Kaelin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Smith bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kaelin's guard.


Kaelin is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Kaelin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Smith manages to get himself to full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Kaelin is working Smith over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Kaelin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Kaelin loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kaelin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
