The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Davies has closed the distance and engaged Rhodes in a clinch.

Rhodes might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Rhodes is looking to work some ground and pound but Davies has wrist control.
Davies has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Rhodes can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Rhodes gets tackled into the cage by Davies. Davies maintains the clinch.

That was a close round but I would say that Hipolito Rhodes will probably get the nod.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Davies has momentary wrist control but Rhodes slips an elbow through the middle.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Davies is pulling down on Rhodes's head. It's preventing any offense from Rhodes, at least for the moment.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Rhodes looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Davies has picked Rhodes up and slammed him! Rhodes can't keep hold of the triangle and Davies manages to pass to side control!
Rhodes pushes Davies away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Davies gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Davies takes a little break here. Rhodes wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Davies decides to stand back up. Davies steps back and let's Rhodes get back to his feet.
Davies scores with a takedown into Rhodes's guard.
Rhodes is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Davies dives into side control.
