Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jack Harper (ranked 24531 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chang Sang Yoo (ranked 25868 p4p, 0 weight class). Jack Harper has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jack Harper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chang Sang Yoo!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Fujiwara and Hirohito Nitta.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Yoo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Harper tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Yoo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Harper tries to roll over but Yoo keeps him under control.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Harper really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Harper wants to stand but Yoo is controlling the position.
Harper wants to sweep but no luck.
Harper tries to strike from the bottom.
Harper keeping moving, preventing Yoo from controlling successfully.
Harper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Yoo wants to control from the top but Harper keeps moving.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Harper shoots for a takedown but Yoo saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Harper gets caught flat footed, as Yoo shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Harper doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Harper wants to stand up but Yoo is controlling him.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Yoo throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Yoo shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Harper manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Harper wants to sweep but no luck.
Yoo passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Yoo in particular looking to stall.
Harper gets full guard.
Harper throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Harper wants to sweep here but Yoo controlling him for the moment.
Yoo is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

A close round but Chang Sang Yoo will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Yoo clinches up with Harper and pushes him back against the cage.

Harper's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Harper darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Harper has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Yoo works his way to full guard. Good work.

Harper is looking to work some ground and pound but Yoo has wrist control.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Harper with a nice head shot there.
Yoo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Harper wants to stand and escape but instead Yoo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Harper will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Harper moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Harper bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Yoo's guard.

Yoo is trying to keep Harper in close.
Yoo is trying to hold Harper in close to prevent damage but Harper has managed to pass into half guard.
Yoo has a hand on Harper's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Harper takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Yoo is doing well to control the position and prevent Harper from advancing to side control.

Harper seems to be looking for submissions.
Harper looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Yoo with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Harper is nestled in close to Yoo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Yoo is looking for a sweep. Harper is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Yoo has a hand on Harper's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Harper takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

Harper wants to finish this one by submission but Yoo is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Harper.

Harper prevents Yoo from getting the reversal.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harper wants to take his opponent's back but instead Yoo manages to regain half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!



A momentary lapse in concentration from Harper enables Yoo to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Harper manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Yoo is looking to stand up but Harper won't let him.

Yoo must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Harper will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Yoo decides to stand back up. Yoo steps back and let's Harper get back to his feet.

Harper is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Yoo jumps guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Yoo working for a triangle but Harper defends it easily.

Yoo wants to sweep here but Harper controlling him for the moment.

Harper in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Harper postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Yoo manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Harper manages to get himself to full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Harper is on top in guard.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Harper's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Yoo is trying to keep Harper in close.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Harper postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Harper working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Yoo's head.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Chang Sang Yoo.
I think Yoo has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
