Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Baeddan MacAuliffe (ranked 3338 p4p, 286 weight class) and Giovanni Nicodemo (ranked 3850 p4p, 316 weight class). MacAuliffe comes to the cage accompanied by Notorious by Duran Duran. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

7 - 6 - 1, fighting out of New York, Giovanni Nicodemo!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
MacAuliffe throws a nice looking combination but Nicodemo bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
We've been informed that Nicodemo has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result.
Nicodemo lands a jab to the head.
Nicodemo connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Nicodemo gets caught napping as MacAuliffe dives in and scores a takedown. Nicodemo manages to retain guard.
Nicodemo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst MacAuliffe is controlling him.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
MacAuliffe connects with a good right hand that stumbles Nicodemo. Nicodemo circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

We've been hearing reports that MacAuliffe has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
MacAuliffe moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Nicodemo dips to his left and cracks MacAuliffe with an uppercut!
MacAuliffe throws a right and a left that Nicodemo avoids nicely.
Nicodemo fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and MacAuliffe has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
A left lands for Nicodemo.
Nicodemo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
MacAuliffe takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Nicodemo lands with a right hand.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Nicodemo throws a head kick that misses.
MacAuliffe shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

MacAuliffe thuds a left hand into Nicodemo's body.
MacAuliffe misses with a combination
letting Nicodemo counter with a right hand.
Nicodemo misses with a wild body shot.
Nicodemo scores with the left hand. MacAuliffe knows he should have avoided that one.

MacAuliffe uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Nicodemo.
MacAuliffe shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
enabling Nicodemo to counter with a crisp jab.
Nicodemo takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
MacAuliffe jabs Nicodemo to the body, keeping him at a distance.
MacAuliffe falls off balance throwing a combination
and Nicodemo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
MacAuliffe is rocked!
MacAuliffe throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nicodemo bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Oh MacAuliffe is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
MacAuliffe lands a jab to Nicodemo's midsection.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Nicodemo. MacAuliffe shrugs it off though.

A big right from Nicodemo misses.
Nicodemo throws a combination. MacAuliffe tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Nicodemo drops MacAuliffe with a straight right hand, right on the button! Nicodemo follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Giovanni Nicodemo!
A relieved looking Giovanni Nicodemo thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
