Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kendall Swanson (ranked 6959 p4p, 0 weight class) and Aleksandr Volkov (ranked 6165 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov shoots in but Swanson avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Swanson really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Volkov wants to get back to his feet but Swanson passes into half guard.

Swanson content to control rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Swanson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Volkov has a hand on Swanson's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Swanson takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Volkov wants to control but Swanson is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Swanson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Volkov can do anything to dispel that myth.
Volkov can't escape the position.
Swanson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Swanson tries to control but Volkov wriggling away.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee warns Volkov that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Swanson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Volkov swivels and escapes.
