Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Daniel Jones (ranked 3927 p4p, 425 weight class) and Barry Reaves (ranked 3929 p4p, 424 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Barry Reaves!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Mauricio Rocha and Matheus Silva.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A low kick from Reaves is predictable there
and Jones makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Reaves throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Jones's waist but Jones gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Reaves off to one side.
Reaves circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jones steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Reaves.
Reaves throws the left hand but Jones avoids the punch easily.
Jones tries to counter with a takedown but Reaves is quick to defend against it.
Jones tries to clinch but Reaves moves out of range.
Jones fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Reaves.
Jones looks to land a combination. Reaves sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.


It looks like Barry Reaves has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Donk. Jones catches Reaves right on the button with a cross.
Jones fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Reaves is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Reaves misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Reaves drives through with a takedown into Jones's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Jones thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Jones has control of Reaves's left arm, preventing Reaves from doing any damage.
Jones can't keep his opponent in guard - Reaves advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Jones tries to get to full guard but Reaves has control of the leg.
Jones is doing well to control the position and prevent Reaves from advancing to side control.

Jones tries to kick Reaves off but Reaves keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Jones wants to control but Reaves is keeping busy.
Jones wants to improve his position but Reaves is controlling well.

Reaves is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Reaves.
Reaves not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Reaves is looking to stall here but Jones recovers full guard.
Reaves sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Jones wants to sweep here but Reaves controlling him for the moment.
Jones is working hard here to advance position.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Reaves tries to land a front kick but Jones steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Jones scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Reaves doesn't seem bothered though.
Reaves throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jones fails with a takedown attempt.
Jones avoids a kick to the body.
As Reaves tries to get set, Jones tries to push him back and clinch up but Reaves manages to avoid the attempt.

Jones closes the distance and clinches.

Jones breaks the clinch.

Jones rushes Reaves and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jones stalling.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Reaves breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Nice body punch from Reaves.
Reaves pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Daniel Jones will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Barry Reaves's cut.
That's time! Jones's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Reaves shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jones but Jones pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Jones appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Reaves tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.
Reaves tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Jones tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Reaves defends well and Jones ends up having to push Reaves into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Reaves throws a leg kick but Jones checks it.

Reaves rushes Jones and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Reaves jumps guard.
Reaves working a defensive guard but Jones passes into half guard.

Jones prevents Reaves from improving his position.

Jones works his foot free and advances to mount.
Jones controlling the position easily from mount.
Jones prevents Reaves from getting the reversal.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Jones moves to take his opponent's back.
Reaves wants to escape the position.
Reaves just trying to survive but Jones is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

Jones looking for the choke but no joy.
Even with his hooks in, Jones manages to miss with strikes from the back.
Jones struggling to keep hold of the position.

Reaves is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Jones.
Daniel Jones overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Jones wants to control but Reaves is keeping busy.
Reaves tries to escape but Jones has the hooks in and won't let him break free.
Reaves manages to scramble and ends up in full guard, under a barage of strikes . Great composure from Reaves.

Reaves is working an open guard so Jones takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Reaves keeps the fight on the outside.
Jones cracks the inside of Reaves's front leg.
Reaves shoots in but no luck this time.
Jones throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Reaves's waist but Reaves gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Jones off to one side.

Reaves drops down looking for an ankle pick but Jones pulls his leg out and moves away.
Daniel Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Reaves.

Reaves closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Jones to the mat! Jones manages to get full guard.
Jones wants to sweep here but Reaves controlling him for the moment.

Reaves pushes Jones up against the cage in a clinch.

Reaves tries to clinch there but Jones circles away.
Jones swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Reaves misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Reaves takes a swing at Jones's ribcage but misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Jones clinches up against the cage.
Jones displaying some good clinch control by pressing Reaves up against the cage.
Reaves jumps guard but Jones stands there with Reaves around his waist. Reaves gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Reaves letting Jones take a breather here.
Reaves is struggling to control the position.
Jones misses with a body punch.
Reaves pressing his opponent against the cage.

Jones manages to break the clinch.
Reaves misses with a jab, cross combination.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Jones wants it to stay on the feet.
Daniel Jones has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Barry Reaves.
Jones dives in and grabs Reaves's left leg, looking for a takedown. Reaves pushes down on Jones's head and hops out.
Reaves is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own.
Reaves dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Reaves feints and as Jones raises his hands in defense, Reaves changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Jones pushes Reaves off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Reaves avoids the head kick by Jones.
Reaves throws a head kick but Jones moves out of range.
Reaves takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Jones tries to clinch up.
Jones tries to clinch there but Reaves circles away.

Reaves moves into the clinch.

Jones pulls guard successfully.
Reaves seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Reaves looking to pass the guard.
Jones is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Reaves trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Jones has his foot on Reaves's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Reaves works his way back into a safe position though.
Reaves is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Reaves stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Jones wants to stand but Reaves is controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Jones wants to land a leg kick but Reaves is out of range.
Reaves misses with a low kick.

Reaves throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Jones was covering up waiting for the punch and Reaves finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Jones pushes Reaves off and gets back to his feet.

And that's the end of the fight!
Daniel Jones showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Jones has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
