Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Manel Kape (ranked 7975 p4p, 620 weight class) and Cain Alvarado (ranked 24243 p4p, 697 weight class). Cain Alvarado has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Manel Kape!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Cain Alvarado!
The judges for this bout are Matheus Silva, Daniel Cesar and Luis Engracia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kape shoots in for a takedown but Alvarado shows good takedown defense.
Alvarado cracks a nice hook into Kape's ribs.
Kape moves out of range as Alvarado throws a body kick.
Nice shot by Alvarado.

Kape closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Alvarado did well to prevent Kape getting side control.

Alvarado manages to escape and get back to his feet!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Alvarado swinging wildly here.
Alvarado throws a front kick aimed at Kape's knee but Kape avoids it well.
Alvarado throws a right and a left that Kape avoids nicely.
Kape moves out of range of the body kick.
Alvarado sizes up Kape with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Kape throws a combination that misses
and Alvarado counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Alvarado gets tackled into the cage by Kape. Kape maintains the clinch.
Kape drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Kape tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Alvarado just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Manel Kape. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Kape manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Alvarado stands and throws Kape's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Alvarado tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Kape is trying to improve his position.

Alvarado swings around for an armbar but Kape sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Alvarado's guard.
Kape controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Alvarado working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kape doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kape manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kape gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Kape throws a sloppy head kick
enabling Alvarado to counter with a crisp jab.
A nice combination there by Alvarado.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alvarado throws a push kick but Kape slaps the foot to one side.
Kape throws a big shot that misses.
Cain Alvarado seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alvarado looks to land a combination but Kape avoids it well.
A right-left combo lands from Alvarado.
Kape avoids a kick to the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kape takes the fight into the clinch.
Kape prevents Alvarado from breaking the clinch.
Alvarado can't break the clinch.

Kape manages to break the clinch.

Kape moves into the clinch.

Kape gets control of Alvarado's arms and successfully pulls guard. Kape will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Kape looking for a sweep. Not yet Kape, not yet.
Alvarado looking to pass the guard.

Kape has his foot on Alvarado's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Alvarado works his way back into a safe position though.
Kape is breathing heavily.

Alvarado is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Kape throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Alvarado drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Kape dives on top into guard.


Alvarado has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Kape should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Alvarado has tightened it up now! Kape should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Cain Alvarado!
