The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hyde shoots in and drives through. Alex sprawls well.
Hyde is trying hard to land a takedown here. Alex sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Alex shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Alex showed some decent athleticism there.
Alex slows the pace down in half guard.
Hyde tries to kick Alex off in order to stand up. Alex Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Alex in side control, just content to control the action for now.
Hyde is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Alex asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Alex takes a little break here. Hyde wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Alex takes advantage of some sloppy striking from Hyde to pass into mount.

Alex is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
No luck for Hyde with that takedown attempt.

Hyde tries to buck Alex off but he can't manage it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Alex sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
The referee warns Hyde that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alex controlling the pace for now.

Alex drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Hyde kicks Alex off and gets to his feet.
Hyde throws a head kick but Alex moves out of range.
Hyde throws a right and a left that both miss.
Hyde shoots in but no luck this time.
Alex connects with a jab and follows up with a big overhand right! Oh that's hurt Hyde! He's out on his feet! Alex rushes in and drops Hyde with another big right hand, forcing the referee to stop the fight!
