The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jess fails with an attempt to clinch.

Jess parries the strikes from Avila easily there. Avila is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Jess to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jess is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Jess drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Avila manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Jess has Avila in his guard.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
