PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Minh Puckett (ranked 6135 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kourtney Rawlings (ranked 5775 p4p, 599 weight class). Rawlings has chosen "Goosebumps" by Travis Scott ft. Kendrick Lamar as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Minh Puckett!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kourtney Rawlings!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Ivan Kurochkin and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rawlings bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.


It looks like Minh Puckett has been cut.
Puckett could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Rawlings fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Puckett seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.

Puckett looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Puckett thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Rawlings's head.
Puckett is keen to just control but Rawlings is a slippery customer.
Rawlings really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Puckett. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Puckett is taking a breather. Rawlings says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Puckett not landing any meaningful shots this time.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Puckett lands a nice short elbow.
Rawlings looks like he's trying to stand up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Puckett is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Rawlings defends it well.

Puckett wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rawlings keeps working.

Puckett is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Rawlings doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Puckett.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Puckett winds up and cracks Rawlings with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Puckett slips a nice elbow through Rawlings's hands, connecting with Rawlings's forehead.
Rawlings keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Puckett lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Rawlings tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Puckett has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Puckett landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Rawlings moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Rawlings wants to stand up but Puckett is controlling him.
Puckett missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Rawlings looking to hit a scissor sweep but Puckett is one step ahead there.
Puckett working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Puckett might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Rawlings is looking to stand up but Puckett isn't so interested in that idea.
Puckett postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Puckett lands a couple of digs.
Puckett throwing strikes but missing.
Puckett lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Rawlings wants to get back to his feet but Puckett is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Puckett postures up in Rawlings's guard and throws a big left but Rawlings blocks it.

Puckett postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Rawlings is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Puckett, into his guard.


Rawlings gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Puckett throws a right hand that Rawlings ducks under and follows up with a left that Rawlings also avoids with ease.
A head kick misses from Puckett.
Puckett fails with a takedown attempt.
Kourtney Rawlings seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rawlings pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Puckett's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Rawlings connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Puckett scrambles back to his feet.
Rawlings stuffs the takedown attempt from Puckett. Puckett gets slowly back to his feet.
As Puckett backs off Rawlings throws a huge counter combo but Puckett manages to avoid it all.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Rawlings tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rawlings misses with a head kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Minh Puckett will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Minh Puckett's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Rawlings throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Puckett feinted with a counter takedown.
Rawlings feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Puckett's calf.
Minh Puckett is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rawlings misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Puckett feinted with a counter takedown.

Puckett closes the distance and clinches.

Rawlings manages to break the clinch.

Rawlings throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Puckett was covering up waiting for the punch and Rawlings finishes the takedown easily into guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rawlings wants to stand and escape but instead Puckett has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Rawlings tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Rawlings keeps trying to improve his position.

Rawlings kicks Puckett off and gets to his feet.
Puckett shoots in but no luck this time.
No luck for Puckett with that takedown attempt.

Puckett gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rawlings to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Puckett has his feet on Rawlings's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rawlings keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Minh Puckett. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Puckett dodges the punch combination from Rawlings.
Puckett seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Rawlings fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Puckett.
Rawlings tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Rawlings scores with the left hand. Puckett knows he should have avoided that one.
Rawlings looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Puckett closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Kourtney Rawlings seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Puckett walks into a left hand.


Puckett is rocked!
Rawlings batters Puckett with a massive right followed by a huge left! Puckett is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Rawlings lands a final crushing right hand to drop Puckett to the mat with a gruesome thud! Rawlings is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:17 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Kourtney Rawlings!
Our winner, Kourtney Rawlings, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
