Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Derrick Jones (ranked 5900 p4p, 0 weight class) and Christoph Le Eskine (ranked 5993 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Christoph Le Eskine!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.

Jones gets a takedown into half guard.
Le Eskine is pressing down on Jones's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Jones's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Jones got a little sloppy there for a moment and Le Eskine has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Jones has managed to get both his arms back between Le Eskine's legs - danger averted.

Jones slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Le Eskine looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Jones stands and throws Le Eskine's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Le Eskine tries to buck Jones off but Jones is having none of it.
Le Eskine is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Jones's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Le Eskine is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!

Le Eskine has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Jones has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Le Eskine is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Le Eskine has the hooks in. Jones is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

Jones is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Le Eskine gets his way!
Jones manages to reverse the position and now he's in Le Eskine's guard. Nice work there by Jones.
Jones really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Jones postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Le Eskine is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Jones is aware though and is defending well.

Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jones wants to stand but Le Eskine has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Le Eskine is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Le Eskine has his foot on Jones's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Jones works his way back into a safe position though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jones tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Le Eskine was well out of range. Poor timing from Jones.

Jones misses with a two punch combination.

Jones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Le Eskine was covering up waiting for the punch and Jones finishes the takedown easily into guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Le Eskine bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jones's guard.

Le Eskine tries to free his leg and advance position but Jones is retaining full guard.
Le Eskine has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Jones is looking for a triangle but Le Eskine pushes his legs off easily.

Le Eskine drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Le Eskine jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Le Eskine works a leg free and moves into half guard.
