The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson loads up on a big right hand but Amaral slips the punch.
As Jackson looks to move away, Amaral throws a big counter combo but Jackson just gets out of the way.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Jackson has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Jackson shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
Jackson misses with a right hand
and Amaral connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Jackson scores with a nice strike.
Amaral is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

Amaral quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
Jackson throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Jackson throws a body shot but no joy.
Jackson shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Amaral defends it nicely.
Amaral swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.

Jackson connects with a right hand. Amaral shakes it off.
Sloppy strikes from Jackson. Those never looked like landing.
Jackson missing with a left hand there. Amaral was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Amaral's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Amaral duly obliges.

Jackson tries to bum rush Amaral with a series of wild strikes but Amaral uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Amaral counters with a nice right hand that sends Jackson toppling to the canvas! Jackson scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Amaral finish him?!

Jackson is rocked!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jackson switches off momentarily and Amaral cracks him with a monster right hand! Jackson topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Amaral dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Amaral!

Rafael Amaral tried to hype himself up post fight but didn't word it too well and it ended up with him sounding like a bit of a tool.
