PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lei Quan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kung Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Lei Quan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kung Lee!
The judges for this bout are Taro Takaoka, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lee moves out of range of the strikes.
Lee shoots in looking for a takedown. Quan tries to sprawl out of it but Lee keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Quan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Lee showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Quan.
Quan throws a right hand that Lee ducks under and follows up with a left that Lee also avoids with ease.
Quan connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Quan misses with a jab, cross combination.
Quan throws out a loose jab but Lee uses good head movement to avoid it.
Lee fails to land the takedown.

Lee scores a takedown into full mount!

Lee has hold of Quan's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Quan manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Quan is wriggling around trying to escape.
Lee tries to control but Quan wriggling away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Quan regains half guard.
Lee sitting and controlling from the half guard.
Lee works his foot free and advances to mount.
Quan tries to reverse the position but Lee maintains control.
Quan has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee avoiding Quan 's attempts to control his hands.
Quan turns into Lee and is now in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quan tries to free his leg and advance position but Lee is retaining full guard.
Lee is trying to control the position but Quan postures up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lee is on top in guard.

Lee avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Quan is breathing heavily.
Lee advances to half guard.
Lee wants to free his trapped foot but Quan is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Lee is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Quan is not content to let Lee control the position.

Quan looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Quan is refusing to be controlled, as Lee sits in half guard.
Lee wants to pass to mount but Quan is defending the position.
Quan tries to get to full guard but Lee has control of the leg.

Lee is trying for a kimura here. Quan looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Lee wins by kimura!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:47 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Kung Lee!
