Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between David Dupuis (ranked 4219 p4p, 468 weight class) and Jay Trudo (ranked 4905 p4p, 533 weight class). Dupuis comes to the cage accompanied by Out for a Rip by Brendan Richmond. David Dupuis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Dupuis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jay Trudo!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Dillan Fox and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dupuis tries for a takedown but Trudo circles away easily
enabling Trudo to counter with a crisp jab.
Trudo throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Dupuis stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Trudo swats away the attempt to clinch by Dupuis.
Dupuis takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Sloppy strikes from Trudo. Those never looked like landing.
Trudo misses with a low kick.
Dupuis feinted with a counter takedown.
Trudo misses with the combination.
Trudo misses with a two punch combination.
Dupuis checks a leg kick.
Dupuis is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Dupuis is defended easily by Trudo.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Dupuis tries to clinch up but Trudo circles away and keeps his distance.

Trudo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Dupuis, pushing him back against the cage.
Dupuis is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
I was talking to Dupuis's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Dupuis. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Dupuis gets control of Trudo's arms and successfully pulls guard. Dupuis will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Trudo wants to stand but Dupuis has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Dupuis bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Trudo's guard.

Trudo is looking to stand up but Dupuis isn't so interested in that idea.

Dupuis tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Dupuis has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Dupuis wants to lay and pray for a moment but Trudo keeps working.
Dupuis throws a strike aimed at the side of Trudo's head but Trudo avoids it well.
Trudo gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Trudo is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

Dupuis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Trudo tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Trudo connects with a combination that backs up Dupuis into the cage. Trudo lands a flurry of punches that gets past Dupuis's guard. Dupuis is down and the referee has seen enough. It is all over! Trudo bursts into tears - this win obviously means a huge amount to him.
