PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Stephen Campbell (ranked 1029 p4p, 144 weight class) and AG Pennypacker (ranked 1565 p4p, 196 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Stephen Campbell!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 14 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, AG Pennypacker!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Cecil Peabody and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A jab from Campbell does it's job there.
Pennypacker misses with a jab, cross combination.
Campbell on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Campbell definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Pennypacker dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Campbell. That did some damage!
Pennypacker throws a hook to the side of Campbell's head but Campbell sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Campbell lunges at Pennypacker with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Pennypacker's hand.
Pennypacker tries to close the distance and clinch but Campbell swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pennypacker throws a sloppy head kick
and Campbell counters with a nice uppercut.
A cross from Pennypacker lands.
Campbell lands a leg kick that knocks Pennypacker off balance momentarily.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Campbell scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Campbell is looking to advance position but Pennypacker won't allow it.
Pennypacker is refusing to be controlled, as Campbell sits in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pennypacker is looking for a sweep. Campbell is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Pennypacker blocking the ground and pound attempt from Campbell.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Campbell throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Pennypacker keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Campbell seems to be working for a kimura but Pennypacker defends the submission attempt.
Pennypacker holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
Campbell throwing shots but Pennypacker is blocking nicely.
Pennypacker tries to roll over but Campbell keeps him under control.
Campbell moves into full mount! Pennypacker won't be happy about that!
Campbell can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pennypacker is looking to escape.
Campbell scores with a couple of good head shots there.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Campbell throws some wild stikes that Pennypacker manages to avoid easily.
Pennypacker is bucking up trying to escape but Campbell cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Pennypacker blocking the ground and pound.
Campbell looking to finish Pennypacker with some ground and pound. This is bad for Pennypacker!
Campbell lands a big shot there that rocks Pennypacker but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.


Pennypacker is rocked!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Campbell postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Pennypacker in real trouble here! The ref calls for Pennypacker to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Stephen Campbell!
Stephen Campbell decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
