Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Danny Ratliff (ranked 25077 p4p, 0 weight class) and German Hood (ranked 23432 p4p, 0 weight class). German Hood will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hood moves into the clinch.
Hood trying to control the position but instead, Ratliff has worked for underhooks and has pushed Hood into the cage.

Hood pulls guard effortlessly.

Ratliff gets to his feet. Hood looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Hood clinches up with Ratliff and pushes him back against the cage.

Hood has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Ratliff uses from the top position.
Ratliff has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hood is proving hard to escape from.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hood is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Ratliff manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Hood on his heels. He'll look to pass Hood's guard now, I'm sure.

Hood is working an open guard so Ratliff takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Ratliff tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ratliff has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Hood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Ratliff. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Ratliff closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Hood did well to prevent Ratliff getting side control.

Despite the aggression on Hood's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Hood tries to improve his position but Ratliff has taken his back! Ratliff has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Hood tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Ratliff pushes Hood away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!
