The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rodriguez tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but LaJoneses paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Rodriguez slips a jab and a cross from LaJoneses.
Rodriguez tries to counter by moving into the clinch but LaJoneses manages to circle out of the way.
Rodriguez really is a fat lump.
LaJoneses will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Rodriguez drives through and clinches with LaJoneses against the cage.

LaJoneses ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. LaJoneses no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rodriguez got a little sloppy there for a moment and LaJoneses has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Rodriguez has managed to get both his arms back between LaJoneses's legs - danger averted.

LaJoneses has momentary wrist control but Rodriguez slips an elbow through the middle.

LaJoneses is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Rodriguez stands up and waves to LaJoneses to follow him.

LaJoneses throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rodriguez was covering up waiting for the punch and LaJoneses finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Rodriguez wriggles free and stands up.

LaJoneses looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Rodriguez makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rodriguez.
LaJoneses trying to control but Rodriguez is working from the bottom.

Rodriguez looking for a guillotine here but LaJoneses defends easily.

Let's hope that LaJoneses has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

LaJoneses is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Rodriguez looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! LaJoneses has picked Rodriguez up and slammed him! Rodriguez can't keep hold of the triangle and LaJoneses manages to pass to side control!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

LaJoneses decides to stand back up. LaJoneses steps back and let's Rodriguez get back to his feet.

LaJoneses wants to break free but Rodriguez has control.

A close round but Loopey LaJoneses will probably get the nod.

Rodriguez shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches LaJoneses napping and manages to drive through into side control!
LaJoneses is trying to improve his position.
LaJoneses wings away with a couple of strikes but they don't land.
Irwin Rodriguez overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
LaJoneses tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rodriguez wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rodriguez tries to stand but LaJoneses controls the position and pulls Rodriguez into his guard.

LaJoneses escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Rodriguez gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Rodriguez has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing LaJoneses to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Rodriguez is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - LaJoneses pulls down on the head and he's put Rodriguez to sleep! This one is all over!
