PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Yohannes Kristoffersen (ranked 3952 p4p, 134 weight class) and Antoni Marti (ranked 3945 p4p, 133 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yohannes Kristoffersen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Antoni Marti!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Anni Minnemäki and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Marti shoots in for a takedown but Kristoffersen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Kristoffersen throws a wild body kick that Marti sees coming a mile off.

Kristoffersen clinches up with Marti and pushes him back against the cage.

Kristoffersen pulls guard effortlessly.
Kristoffersen managing to control the position.
Kristoffersen keeping moving, preventing Marti from controlling successfully.
Marti might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kristoffersen haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Kristoffersen looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Kristoffersen is trying to keep Marti in close.

Marti decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Kristoffersen, up you get!

Kristoffersen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Marti but Marti pushes him off and we're back to square one.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Kristoffersen is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Marti gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Kristoffersen is working for takedown but Marti is calmly controlling the position for now.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yohannes Kristoffersen. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Kristoffersen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Kristoffersen gets caught napping as Marti dives in and scores a takedown. Kristoffersen manages to retain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kristoffersen is breathing heavily.
Marti lands a couple of elbows.
Marti wants to pass the guard but Kristoffersen is keeping the position.
Kristoffersen really is a fat lump.
Marti tries to stand but Kristoffersen is controlling from the bottom.

Marti throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Kristoffersen works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Marti gets to his feet. Kristoffersen looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Marti throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kristoffersen's waist but Kristoffersen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Marti off to one side.
Kristoffersen appears to be looking for a big counter.

Marti manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Kristoffersen on his heels. He'll look to pass Kristoffersen's guard now, I'm sure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Marti wants to control from the top but Kristoffersen keeps moving.

Marti stands up from Kristoffersen's guard - Marti perhaps looking for a knockout.
Kristoffersen doesn't manage to clinch there - Marti circles away.

Marti shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Marti was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Kristoffersen throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Marti lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Kristoffersen misses with a takedown
and Marti counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Marti is looking to clinch but Kristoffersen is avoiding it.
It appears Kristoffersen was looking to counter with a kick there.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Marti shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Marti scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Kristoffersen slaps away a takedown attempt from Marti, before circling back to the center of the mat.

Kristoffersen looking to score a takedown here. Marti is defending well but Kristoffersen drives through and ends up in Marti's guard.

Kristoffersen trying to control the position from guard on top but Marti is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Kristoffersen throws a strike but Marti rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Kristoffersen is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Marti is holding on to half guard well.
Marti tries to get to full guard but Kristoffersen has control of the leg.
Marti moves into full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Yohannes Kristoffersen will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Kristoffersen tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Kristoffersen is thwarting Marti's attempts to control the position.
Marti is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Kristoffersen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Kristoffersen's back!

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
I really don't envy Kristoffersen right now.
Antoni Marti has got the better of the ground game so far.
Marti is punishing Kristoffersen with some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kristoffersen controlling his opponent's hands, preventing the submission attempt.
Kristoffersen prevents Marti from getting a body triangle.

Kristoffersen is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.
Marti is hanging on to Kristoffersen's back as he tries to escape.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Marti controlling well, preventing Kristoffersen from escaping the position.
Kristoffersen manages to reverse the position and now he's in Marti's guard. Nice work there by Kristoffersen.
Kristoffersen tries to free his leg and advance position but Marti is retaining full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Marti holds on and takes a little breather.

Marti seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Let's hope that Marti has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Antoni Marti showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!


Kristoffersen tries for a takedown but Marti circles away easily
and Marti counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Kristoffersen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Marti.
A counter left hand to the body from Kristoffersen misses its target.
Kristoffersen tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Kristoffersen rushes Marti and presses him up against the cage.

Kristoffersen ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Kristoffersen no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Marti seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Kristoffersen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Marti seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Marti works his foot free and advances to mount.
Marti is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Kristoffersen is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Marti looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Marti lands a heavy elbow.
Marti looking to control and managing it successfully.
Kristoffersen is flailing around like a fish out of water, trying to land strikes.

Marti tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

Marti has control of Kristoffersen's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Kristoffersen regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Marti prevents Kristoffersen from getting the reversal.
Kristoffersen wants to control but Marti is having none of it.

Marti moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Kristoffersen has worked his arm free - good work by Kristoffersen!
Kristoffersen is trying to buck Marti off.

Kristoffersen is not content to let Marti control the position.

Marti wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kristoffersen, who protects the arm well.
Kristoffersen gets back to half guard.
Marti is looking to advance position but Kristoffersen won't allow it.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Marti is thwarting Kristoffersen's attempts to control the position.

Marti is working for a kimura here but Kristoffersen manages to reverse the position and he's now in Marti's guard.

Kristoffersen drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kristoffersen jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Marti looking for a sweep. Not yet Marti, not yet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Marti escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Kristoffersen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Kristoffersen is stalling in the full guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Antoni Marti comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Marti has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
