PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Steel (ranked 2818 p4p, 352 weight class) and Sgt James Doakes (ranked 3065 p4p, 373 weight class). Steel comes into the arena with Accept- Balls to the wall blaring out of the sound system. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The judges for this bout are Jonathan Paton, John Kavanagh and David Schapiro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doakes uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.

Doakes gets in close and instigates a clinch.
A right hook to the body lands for Doakes.
A head punch on the inside from Doakes fails to land.
Doakes swings wildly with an uppercut but Steel uses good head movement to avoid it.
Doakes misses with the head strike.
Doakes lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Steel backwards.
A short body shot lands from Doakes as the two fighters clinch.
Doakes looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Doakes.
Doakes swings wildly with an uppercut but Steel uses good head movement to avoid it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Doakes throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Doakes tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Doakes presses Steel against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

Doakes lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Doakes creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Doakes lands a left hand.
Doakes lands a left hand that snaps the head of Steel backwards.

Doakes manages to break the clinch.

Doakes pushes Steel up against the cage in a clinch.
Doakes can't find room to land a body shot as Steel controls the action.

Steel definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Doakes breaks the clinch.

Doakes moves into the clinch.
Steel tries for a takedown but Doakes manages to get underhooks.
Steel blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Doakes working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Doakes lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Doakes misses with a short punch on the inside.

Doakes's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Doakes darts in and clinches Steel up against the cage.

Steel gets control of Doakes's arms and successfully pulls guard. Steel will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Steel is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Doakes frees his head nicely. Oh but Steel has switched to an armbar! Doakes is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
