Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Milton Hilton (ranked 2112 p4p, 215 weight class) and Danilo Gentili (ranked 1198 p4p, 127 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 1, fighting out of New York, Milton Hilton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Danilo Gentili!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, James Ackerman and James Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hilton with a jab.
Hilton lands a really nice looking cross but Gentili seems unphased.
Hilton throws a head kick that misses.
Hilton listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Hilton jabs Gentili to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Hilton fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gentili on the side of the head.
We've been told by Hilton's head coaches at Midnight MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Nice uppercut there from Hilton.
Hilton lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
No luck for Gentili with that takedown attempt.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Hilton rushes Gentili and presses him up against the cage.

Hilton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Gentili's coach down at Jitz MMA was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Gentili's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Hilton lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Gentili goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Hilton has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Gentili but great work by Hilton.
Gentili sneaks back into half guard.
Well, if Hilton is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Gentili is looking to control Hilton's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Gentili avoid being mounted?
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hilton wants to control but Gentili is keeping him busy.

Gentili had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Hilton defends it easily.

Hilton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Hilton takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Hilton will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gentili is trying to maintain the position but Hilton is very close to passing his half guard.
Hilton not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Hilton knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gentili on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Hilton wants to take a breather but Gentili is having none of it.

Hilton stands and throws Gentili's legs to the side, diving into side control.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A left lands for Hilton.

Gentili gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Gentili misses with a takedown attempt - Hilton sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Hilton clinches.

Gentili has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Hilton uses from the top position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hilton stands and steps away. Gentili gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Hilton rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gentili moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Gentili takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Gentili closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Gentili is keen to just control but Hilton is a slippery customer.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Gentili has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Gentili wants to take his opponent's back but Hilton doesn't allow it.

Gentili is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Hilton to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Hilton shrugs it off.

Hilton on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Hilton tries to get out of the position.
Hilton is controlling an arm, preventing Gentili from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.

Hilton tries to lock up and control but Gentili gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Gentili wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.

Gentili with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Gentili throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Gentili jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Hilton manages to avoid the submission attempt.

A close second round but Danilo Gentili will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Gentili drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Hilton manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gentili has Hilton in his guard.

Hilton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Gentili can do to turn this around?

Hilton is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gentili is controlling him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

I think Gentili has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
