Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jessi Quick (ranked 6977 p4p, 0 weight class) and Richie Sambora (ranked 3993 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jessi Quick!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Richie Sambora!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quick misses with a takedown attempt - Sambora sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Quick rushes Sambora and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Quick drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sambora pulls his leg out and moves away.
Richie Sambora seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Quick takes one to the side of the head.
Sambora chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Quick can pounce on him.
Sambora looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Quick on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Sambora changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Quick is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sambora sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jessi Quick. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quick takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Sambora manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Quick on his heels. He'll look to pass Quick's guard now, I'm sure.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Sambora is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Sambora throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Quick works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Sambora seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Quick controls Sambora momentarily but Sambora frees himself.

Sambora really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quick. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Sambora must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Quick keeping moving, preventing Sambora from controlling successfully.
Sambora throws a strike but Quick rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Quick is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quick slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Sambora tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Quick is looking to stand up but Sambora won't let him.
Sambora looking to hit a scissor sweep but Quick is one step ahead there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sambora can do anything to dispel that myth.

Quick drops back looking for a leg! Sambora is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Sambora manages to kick Quick off! Quick jumps back into Sambora's guard.

Sambora keeping moving, preventing Quick from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Quick won't allow Sambora to sweep him here.
Sambora pulls Quick in close to his closed guard and prevents Quick from doing any damage or advancing position.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Quick wants to control from the top but Sambora keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Sambora is pulling down on Quick's head to control his posture.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Quick takes one to the chin there.
Sambora listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Sambora lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Quick takes a shot right to the bread basket.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Quick wants to clinch.
Nice jab there from Sambora.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richie Sambora dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Sambora crunches a massive hammerfist down on Quick - he's out! Sambora Holds back on further strikes and jumps to his feet to celebrate with the crowd!
