Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arnoldo Vargas (ranked 25116 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tundra Tomas (ranked 6129 p4p, 0 weight class). Tundra Tomas has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Arnoldo Vargas's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Arnoldo Vargas!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Tundra Tomas!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fotheringham, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tomas gets a clinch.
Tomas can't find room to land a body shot as Vargas controls the action.
Tomas stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.
Tomas tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Vargas just stands there and leans against the cage.
Vargas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Tomas smiles and moves away.
Tomas pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Tomas misses with the combination.
A counter left hand to the body from Vargas misses its target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tomas throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Nice sprawl there from Vargas as Tomas shoots in.
Vargas wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Tomas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Vargas circles away.
Vargas went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Arnoldo Vargas has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tundra Tomas.

Tomas gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Tomas tries to circle away but Vargas has him pinned against the cage.
Vargas wants a takedown.
Vargas blocks a body shot from Tomas.
Tomas jumps guard but Vargas stands there with Tomas around his waist. Tomas gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Vargas jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Tomas walks away with a smile on his face. Vargas gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Vargas keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Tomas throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Vargas's waist but Vargas gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Tomas off to one side.
Tomas tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Vargas counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Vargas is trying to control the action in half guard but Tomas is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Vargas is looking for a kimura but Tomas is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Vargas to get the leverage.
Vargas really is a fat lump.

Vargas is trying to work for a kimura but Tomas is defending well.

Vargas escapes and gets back to his feet.

Tomas tries to score a power double leg takedown but Vargas sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Tomas somewhat.

and Vargas counters with a nice double leg into side control. Tomas won't be happy with that.

Vargas stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Vargas shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Tomas as he jumps to the side.

Vargas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Vargas tries to bum rush Tomas with a series of wild strikes but Tomas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Vargas stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vargas wants it to stay on the feet.
Vargas tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Tomas manages to circle out of the way.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Vargas's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Tomas is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Vargas pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Tomas misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Vargas.
Vargas tries to pull guard but Tomas forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Vargas keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Tomas's efforts to push away.

Vargas is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Tomas to keep the fight standing.

Tomas tries to pull guard but Vargas holds him up against the cage and eventually Tomas drops back down to his feet.
Tomas drops down looking for an ankle pick but Vargas pulls his leg out and moves away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Tomas is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Vargas gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Vargas jumps guard but Tomas turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Tomas decides to pull guard.

Vargas gets to his feet - Tomas follows without any prompting.
Tomas is breathing heavily.
Tomas throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Vargas pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Tomas shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vargas defends it nicely.
Vargas appears to be looking for a big counter.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tomas misses with a takedown attempt - Vargas sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Tomas tries to close the distance and clinch but Vargas swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Vargas attempts a counter takedown but Tomas avoids it well and moves away.
Tomas lands the left hand.

Vargas shoots in looking for a takedown. Tomas tries to sprawl out of it but Vargas keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Tomas manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Vargas changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Tomas looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tomas tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Vargas presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Tomas wants to hold on but Vargas pushes him away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Tundra Tomas will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Vargas decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Nice takedown defense from Vargas. No joy for Tomas on that attempt.

Vargas clinches.
Tomas wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Tomas throws a knee to the head but misses.
Tomas trying to control the position but instead, Vargas has worked for underhooks and has pushed Tomas into the cage.
Tomas looking to stall.

Tomas tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Vargas smiles and moves away.

Tomas wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Vargas manages to pass to side control.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Vargas takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Tomas wants to get back to full guard.
Vargas is trying to control. Tomas wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Arnoldo Vargas overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
