PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Warren (ranked 24028 p4p, 0 weight class) and Anthony Garcia (ranked 7223 p4p, 0 weight class). Anthony Garcia will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Miguel Warren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Anthony Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Chris Downing and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Warren has a takedown stuffed.

Garcia shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Warren is trying to defend but Garcia finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Warren misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Garcia throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Warren to regain full guard.
Garcia cracks Warren with a solid left hand.
Garcia is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Warren has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Warren has his foot on Garcia's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Garcia works his way back into a safe position though.
Warren could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Warren has momentary wrist control but Garcia slips an elbow through the middle.
Garcia stands up over Warren, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Warren might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Garcia looking to sit in guard and control but Warren gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Garcia wants to stand but Warren is controlling the position.

Warren postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Warren won't allow Garcia to get back to his feet.
Warren wants to control from the top but Garcia keeps moving.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Garcia wants to stand and escape but Warren is having none of it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Garcia shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Warren but Warren pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Warren is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Garcia.

Warren changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Garcia looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Warren looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Garcia is avoiding damage well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Warren wants to control but Garcia is keeping him busy.

Garcia throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!
Garcia dives in and grabs Warren's left leg, looking for a takedown. Warren pushes down on Garcia's head and hops out.
Garcia tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Warren defends well and Garcia ends up having to push Warren into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Miguel Warren has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Anthony Garcia.

Garcia must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Garcia postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Warren covers up, he's hurt! Garcia keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Garcia and the ref steps in to end the fight! Garcia can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.
