PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Dylan Larsen (ranked 6381 p4p, 0 weight class) and Warren Justice (ranked 7628 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dylan Larsen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Warren Justice!
The judges for this bout are Josh West, Ryoma Takatsuka and Roger Salmon.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Larsen swats away the attempt to clinch by Justice.
Larsen changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit.
Larsen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Justice decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Larsen is trying to stand up here but Justice is controlling him well.
Justice looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Larsen is looking to escape.
Justice is nestled in close to Larsen, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Justice stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Larsen to get to his feet.

Justice is looking to take a break and control but Larsen is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Larsen looks like he's trying to stand up.

Justice is trying to work for a kimura but Larsen is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and Larsen counters with a shoot takedown. Justice fights it but they end up in guard.

Justice has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Larsen has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.

Justice jumps into guard, dragging Larsen to the mat.
Larsen wants to pass the guard but Justice is keeping the position.
Larsen wants to stand but Justice has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Justice looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Larsen drops back, looking for a kneebar! Justice looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Justice looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Justice!

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Justice looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

Justice tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Justice has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Justice wants to lay and pray for a moment but Larsen keeps working.
Justice looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Justice swings around for an armbar but Larsen sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Justice's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Larsen goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Justice rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Larsen's guard! Nice work there by Justice!

Justice drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Larsen manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Justice has Larsen in his guard.

Larsen trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Justice. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

and Larsen counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Justice is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Larsen wants to get up but he can't break Justice's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Larsen has gone for a leg lock! Justice slips out almost immediately though and dives into Larsen's guard.

Larsen tried to score with a low kick but Justice checks it.

Justice drives through and clinches with Larsen against the cage.
A nice left hand lands by Larsen.

Larsen manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Justice working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Larsen's head.
Justice is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

That was a close second round but I would say that Dylan Larsen will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Larsen throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.

Justice gets an overhook and lands an elbow to the side of the head.


It looks like Dylan Larsen has been cut.

An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Justice.

Larsen manages to break the clinch.

Justice rushes Larsen and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Justice is trying to stall.
Larsen tries to pull guard but Justice forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Larsen tries to score a body lock takedown but Justice shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Justice looks to throw an elbow but misses.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Larsen.

Larsen pulls guard effortlessly.
Justice trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Justice stands and throws Larsen's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Justice is trying to ground and pound but Larsen uses the momentary lack of control by Justice to regain half guard.

Justice seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Larsen is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Arm Triangle). Warren Justice!
A relieved looking Warren Justice thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
