And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Benson Hendges!
The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Roger Salmon and Ryoma Takatsuka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hendges clinches with his opponent.
Riggs is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Hendges to keep the fight standing.
Riggs is looking to break free of the clinch but Hendges has double underhooks.

Hendges works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.

Hendges works over Riggs with some ground and pound from guard.
Hendges pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Riggs is keeping the position for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Riggs has momentary wrist control but Hendges slips an elbow through the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Riggs looking to hit a scissor sweep but Hendges is one step ahead there.
Riggs looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Hendges puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Riggs could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Hendges looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Hendges in particular looking to stall.

Hendges takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Riggs is trying to stand back up but Hendges is controlling him
Riggs tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Hendges manages to move to mount!
Riggs is working to get back to half guard.
Hendges raining down shots from the mount!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Riggs can't escape the position.

BOOM! Hendges connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Hendges has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Hendges is in the full mount, landing strikes.


Riggs is rocked!
Hendges cracks Riggs with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
