PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jc Dickens (ranked 4946 p4p, 537 weight class) and Slot Waster (ranked 3800 p4p, 437 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Slot Waster was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Slot Waster!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, David Schapiro and Reed Andrews.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Waster jabs Dickens to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Waster lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Waster shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Dickens as he avoids it easily.
Dickens has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Dickens there as he acknowledges the shot.
A lazy left from Waster finds it's target.
A nice combination there by Waster.
Waster digs a good hook to Dickens's body.

Waster is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Dickens's half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Waster seems to be looking for submissions.

Waster seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Dickens does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Dickens is looking to improve his position.
Waster uses his free foot to push down on Dickens's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Dickens.
Dickens is squirming around, avoiding Waster's attempts to control the action.

Waster is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Waster looks to land a strike but Dickens avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Dickens on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Dickens tries to get out of the position.
Dickens tries to buck Waster off but Waster is having none of it.
Waster wants to lay and pray for a moment but Dickens keeps working.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Waster pushes down on Dickens's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Waster looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Dickens tries to roll over but Waster keeps him under control.
Waster trying to advance position but Dickens counters by regaining guard.
Waster tries to free his leg and advance position but Dickens is retaining full guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Dickens utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Slot Waster dominated that round.
That's time! Dickens's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Waster looks for a takedown but Dickens sprawls well.
Waster dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Dickens on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Dickens misses with a hook.
Waster with the counter takedown but Dickens avoids it easily.
A left lands for Waster.
Waster bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Waster lands a slapping body shot.
Waster fails with the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Dickens on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

Dickens scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Waster manages to work his way to half guard, despite Dickens's best efforts.
Waster gets full guard.

Waster lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Waster trying to control the position from guard on top but Dickens is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Dickens keeping full guard, as Waster tries to pass.
Dickens pulls Waster in close to his closed guard and prevents Waster from doing any damage or advancing position.
Dickens knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Waster on the ground.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Dickens tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Waster wants to control from the top but Dickens keeps moving.

Waster might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dickens haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Waster lands with an overhand left.
Dickens takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Waster has a takedown stuffed.
Jc Dickens has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Slot Waster.
Waster lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Waster dives in and grabs Dickens's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dickens pushes down on Waster's head and hops out.
A big right from Dickens misses.
Waster has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Dickens takes a swing at Waster's ribcage but misses.
Waster tries to score a power double leg takedown but Dickens sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Waster somewhat.
Dickens swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Waster shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Dickens pinned against the cage. Dickens gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Waster closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Dickens to the mat! Dickens manages to get full guard.

Waster is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Dickens is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Dickens has escaped and now he's on top!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Dickens drops an elbow to the side of Waster's head.
Waster makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Waster.

Waster is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Dickens frees his head nicely. Oh but Waster has switched to an armbar! Dickens is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
