Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Greg Lupul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kongo Hatoky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hatoky comes into a darkened arena with his song building. MAMMA AFRICA!! kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The key to victory for Greg Lupul has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hatoky shoots in for a takedown but Lupul shows good takedown defense.

Greg Lupul has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kongo Hatoky.

Good leg kick by Lupul there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

Hatoky shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lupul pinned against the cage. Lupul gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Hatoky tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Lupul swivels and escapes.
Lupul lands a head kick. Hatoky smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
It looks like Kongo Hatoky has been cut.
Hatoky fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Hatoky closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Hatoky has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Lupul is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Greg Lupul will probably get the nod.

Hatoky is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Hatoky is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lupul can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Kongo Hatoky comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
