PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stacey Travis (ranked 6149 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sidusu Teloshi (ranked 5750 p4p, 0 weight class). Sidusu Teloshi is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Stacey Travis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sidusu Teloshi!
The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Sano and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Teloshi throws a series of punches but Travis moves out of range.
Travis seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Travis tries to clinch there but Teloshi circles away.
Teloshi is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Travis closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Travis lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Travis scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Travis could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Travis thows a huge punch but Teloshi dodges it nicely.

Travis decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Teloshi shoots in and gets a takedown into Travis's guard.
Travis pulls Teloshi in close to prevent any damage.
Teloshi wants to pass the guard but Travis is keeping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Teloshi is fighting to break Travis's control of his arms but Travis is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Travis wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Travis's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Travis fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Teloshi feints the counter takedown.

Travis shoots in and gets a takedown into Teloshi's guard.

Teloshi is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Travis presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
Teloshi scores with a nice hook to the head.
Travis avoids a wild elbow strike from Teloshi.
Travis throws an elbow that misses.

Teloshi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Travis has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Teloshi finds it's way round the side to connect with Travis's head.
Travis shoots for a double leg takedown but Teloshi sprawls well. He's pushed Travis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Travis closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Teloshi quickly recovers to half guard.
Travis thows a huge punch but Teloshi dodges it nicely.
Travis misses with a head shot. Teloshi uses the momentum to regain guard.
Travis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Teloshi throws a nice elbow from the bottom.
Teloshi is looking to stand up but Travis isn't so interested in that idea.
Travis postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Travis cracks Teloshi with a solid left hand.

Teloshi has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Travis is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.

Teloshi decides to pull guard.
Travis works over Teloshi with some ground and pound from guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Travis would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Teloshi is striking from the bottom but Travis uses the opportunity to pass into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sidusu Teloshi dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Travis gets the takedown into side control.
Teloshi wants to get back to his feet but Travis is dominant here and he's now got Teloshi's back!

Travis scores with punches and elbows.
Travis scores with some strikes to the side of the head there. Good, points scoring shots.
I really don't envy Teloshi right now.
Travis gets his hands free as Teloshi looks to control.
Travis gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Teloshi really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Travis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Teloshi is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.
Teloshi is breathing heavily.
Travis lands shots from the back.

I really don't envy Teloshi right now.
Travis punishes Teloshi with strikes from the back mount.

Teloshi is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Travis gets his way!

Travis keeps control of the position easily here as Teloshi tries to buck him off.
Travis lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Travis.

Travis has his opponent trapped and is landing shots. Not a good position for Teloshi.
