Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Chris Green!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Arturo Ward!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Green slips a jab and a cross from Ward.
Arturo Ward seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Green shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Green showed some decent athleticism there.
Green is keen to just control but Ward is a slippery customer.
Ward wants to get back to his feet.
Ward makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ward.

Green thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Ward is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Ward keeping moving, preventing Green from controlling successfully.
Ward throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Green missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Ward throws a lazy right hand but Green sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Ward fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Green looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Ward swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Ward connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
The fighters circling - Ward throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Green wants to control from the top but Ward keeps moving.

Ward looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Ward will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.

Green drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Green jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Ward can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Green controls the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Green sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Ward's guard.
Green seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.

Ward rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Green moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Green uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Ward.
Ward throws a hook but Green blocks it.

Green has managed to clinch.

Green has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Ward is trying to keep an underhook but Green manages to get the takedown into half guard.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Green connects with a nice short shot to Ward's temple.

Ward is looking to sinch up a gullotine here but Green pulls his head out easily.
Green has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Green fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Ward sprawls well initially but Green persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Ward is refusing to be controlled, as Green sits in half guard.
Ward looks like he's trying to stand up.

Green uses his free foot to push down on Ward's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ward.

Green seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Ward for as long as he can get away with.

Green walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Ward throws a jab but it's blocked by Green.

Green wants to control from the top but Ward keeps moving.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Green is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Ward is looking for a triangle but Green pushes his legs off easily.

Ward had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Green is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Ward Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Green's back instead.

Ward has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Ward throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Ward might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Green shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ward's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A combination from Ward does no damage.

Green closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Green, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
