Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gail Faulkner!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Striker!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Striker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Faulkner.
As Striker tries to get set, Faulkner tries to push him back and clinch up but Striker manages to avoid the attempt.
Faulkner shoots in but Striker avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Faulkner rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Striker moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A punch combination from Striker misses.
Striker fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Faulkner manages to avoid it.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Striker, right into the meat.
Faulkner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Striker, pushing him back against the cage.
Striker lands a takedown into guard.
Faulkner wriggles free and stands up.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Striker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Striker swings for the body but Faulkner moves out of range.
A little feinted left hand from Faulkner on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Striker shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Faulkner kicks Striker off and gets back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Striker pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Faulkner on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Striker scores with a one two! Faulkner had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Faulkner closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Striker wants to get back to his feet but Faulkner is dominant here and he's now got Striker's back!
You can see the frustration on Striker's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Striker just trying to survive but Faulkner is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Striker manages to reverse the position and now he's in Faulkner's guard. Nice work there by Striker.
Faulkner wants to get back to his feet but Striker is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Striker is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Faulkner has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Striker is looking to defend but Faulkner has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Striker! Faulkner pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Striker taps out and this one is all over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:20 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Gail Faulkner!
