PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Harry Ronson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mick Dolan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ronson is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. The key to victory for Harry Ronson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mick Dolan!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Colin Fotheringham.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ronson throws a right hand that Dolan ducks under and follows up with a left that Dolan also avoids with ease.
Ronson looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!

Dolan bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Dolan wants to control but Ronson is keeping him busy.
Dolan advances to mount.

Dolan has control of Ronson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ronson regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Dolan throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Dolan thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
Dolan connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Ronson is controlling an arm, preventing Dolan from taking his back. Although keeping him in mount is no better to be honest.
Ronson is looking to improve his position but Dolan isn't that keen on the idea.

Ronson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Dolan on the ground.

Dolan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Ronson kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Mick Dolan.
Dolan misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ronson throws a right and a left that Dolan avoids nicely.
Dolan fails to land the takedown.

and Dolan counters with a three punch combo that has Ronson backing up. Ronson nods at Dolan to acknowledge the strikes.

and Dolan decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Ronson's guard.

Ronson bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Dolan's guard.

Ronson has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Dolan is trying to control the position but Ronson postures up.

Dolan working for a triangle but Ronson defends it easily.
Ronson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Ronson would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Dolan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ronson manages to get himself to full guard.

Dolan drops back, looking for a kneebar! Ronson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Ronson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Ronson!

Dolan sneaks a leg under to get back to half guard.
Dolan manages to get to full guard.
Dolan wants to sweep here but Ronson controlling him for the moment.

Ronson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Dolan is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Dolan counters with a shoot takedown. Ronson fights it but they end up in guard.
Dolan works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Dolan is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Dolan is thwarting Ronson's attempts to control the position.

Dolan misses with a head shot. Ronson uses the momentum to regain guard.
Ronson keeping moving, preventing Dolan from controlling successfully.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Dolan throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Ronson throws a left and a right that both miss

and Dolan counters with a nice double leg into side control. Ronson won't be happy with that.
Dolan creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Ronson sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Dolan throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Dolan has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Dolan moves into full mount!
Ronson is squirming around, avoiding Dolan's attempts to control the action.

Ronson won't enjoy being in this position. Dolan looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Ronson is tapping - it's over boys! Dolan picks up the submission victory!
