PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Van Carey (ranked 25052 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Viper (ranked 5510 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Van Carey!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Viper!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Robert Twigg and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Viper takes the fight into the clinch.
Carey is looking to take this one to the mat.

Viper successfully pulls guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Viper is on top in guard.

Viper slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Viper looking to pass the guard.
Carey pulls Viper in close to his closed guard and prevents Viper from doing any damage or advancing position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Viper throws a strike but Carey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


That's one minute gone in the round.

Carey is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Viper is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Viper has escaped and now he's on top!

Carey keeping moving, preventing Viper from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Viper looking to sit in guard and control but Carey gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Viper wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Carey manages to pass to side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Carey is thwarting Viper's attempts to control the position.
Viper wants to improve his position but Carey is controlling well.
Viper connecting with a few gentle strikes.
Viper is trying to get back to full guard.
Viper has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Carey is working away from the top position though.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Viper tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Carey has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Carey moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Viper has worked his arm free - good work by Viper!
Viper is trying to control Carey's posture but Carey avoids it.
Carey has control of an arm but Viper manages to advance to Carey's back!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Carey looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
Viper trying to control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Viper controls the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Viper dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Van Carey's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.



Viper clinches up against the cage.

Viper lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Carey is positioning himself well to prevent Viper advancing to mount.
Viper is looking to stall here but Carey recovers full guard.
Viper looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Carey pulls Viper in close to prevent any damage.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Viper trying to control but Carey is working from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Carey tries to close the distance and clinch up but Viper swats him away and circles back towards the center.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Viper wants to clinch.

Viper scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Viper with the ground and pound but Carey regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Viper is thwarting Carey's attempts to control the position.
Viper trying to control from half guard but Carey is working away.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Viper thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Carey's head.

Carey actively working from the bottom here.
Joe Viper has got the better of the ground game so far.
Viper is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Carey is holding on to half guard well.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Viper shoots in and bounces Carey off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Viper wants to control from the top but Carey keeps moving.

Carey looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Viper passes into half guard.
Viper working to pass to mount. He's got his hand pressing down on Carey's thigh. Carey counters though and makes it back to full guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Carey looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joe Viper showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Van Carey's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Viper leaves Carey with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Both fighters circling slowly here as the pace drops. Hopefully one of them does someth.. OOOHHHH!!!! Viper throws an absolute beast of a head kick! Carey is done! He's out cold, twisted and contorted up against the cage! Wow!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:16 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Joe Viper!
