Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wanderlei Merriweather (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Andromalius (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Merriweather comes to the cage accompanied by Change. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wanderlei Merriweather!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Thomas Andromalius!
The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Donatello Bradman.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Merriweather closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Merriweather lands an elbow.
Andromalius is looking to regain half guard here but Merriweather keeps moving and retains side control.
Merriweather gets to mount! Andromalius was on the offensive and wasn't defending properly.
Andromalius is working to get back to half guard.
Andromalius is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Merriweather landing strikes, looking to finish!
Merriweather avoids the attempt from Andromalius to control.
Andromalius keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Andromalius tries to hold on but Merriweather pushes him away.
Merriweather connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Andromalius wants to control but Merriweather is having none of it.

Andromalius is bucking up trying to escape but Merriweather cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Merriweather has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Merriweather wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
Merriweather with the ground and pound from mount.
Andromalius is in all sorts of trouble here.
Andromalius is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Merriweather lands a big elbow.
Andromalius is desperately trying to improve his position but Merriweather has a good base and remains in mount.
Merriweather controlling his opponent.
Andromalius is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Merriweather landing punches.

Merriweather is controlling this nicely and is looking to make no mistakes. Andromalius is trying to wiggle out of this horrible position. Andromalius flips to his side and attempts to get a leg in for half guard. Merriweather anticipates the leg and manages to get behind Andromalius and secures both hooks! This could be bad! Merriweather slips an arm under Andromalius chin and tries to position for a rear naked choke. Merriweather has worked the choke in now and it looks tight. Merriweather is squeezing on Andromalius like an anaconda would it's prey. Andromalius fails to tap and has fallen unconscious! We've got ourselves a winner by way of a rear naked choke!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:28 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Wanderlei Merriweather!
