The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pepijn misses with a two punch combination.
Modrijan swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.

Modrijan drives through and clinches with Pepijn against the cage.

Pepijn turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Modrijan is doing well to control the position and prevent Pepijn from advancing to side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Modrijan tries to kick Pepijn off but Pepijn keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Pepijn really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Modrijan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Modrijan stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Modrijan wants it to stay on the feet.
Pepijn tries to clinch but Modrijan moves out of range.

Modrijan shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pepijn's guard.

Modrijan has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Pepijn is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Modrijan yanks on the arm and Pepijn is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Modrijan.
