Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kerry Mcpherson (ranked 24623 p4p, 0 weight class) and Juan Pierre (ranked 6411 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kerry Mcpherson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Juan Pierre!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, John Kavanagh and John Roberts.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Pierre closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Pierre tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Mcpherson could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Pierre is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mcpherson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Pierre can do anything to dispel that myth.

Pierre throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Mcpherson was covering up waiting for the punch and Pierre finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Mcpherson manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Mcpherson is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Pierre can do to turn this around?

Pierre closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Mcpherson to the mat! Mcpherson manages to get full guard.

Mcpherson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Pierre can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Pierre drops back, looking for a kneebar! Mcpherson looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Mcpherson looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Mcpherson!

Pierre parries the strikes from Mcpherson easily there. Mcpherson is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Pierre to escape.
Pierre is looking for a sweep.
Pierre takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Mcpherson in side control, throwing shots but Pierre defends.
Mcpherson throws an elbow but Pierre slips to the side and avoids it well.

Pierre is trying to control Mcpherson's posture but Mcpherson avoids it.

You can see the frustration on Pierre's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Mcpherson moves in looking to clinch but Pierre pushes him off.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Mcpherson sneaks out the side door and pushes Pierre away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mcpherson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
