The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vernon clinches.

Vernon jumps guard and drags Blake to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Blake is fighting to break Vernon's control of his arms but Vernon is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Blake wants to stand but Vernon has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Blake gets to his feet - Vernon follows without any prompting.

Blake instigates a clinch.
Blake has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Vernon looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Blake tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Vernon avoids it.

Blake could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Vernon scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Derrick Vernon seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Blake gets caught napping as Vernon dives in and scores a takedown. Blake manages to retain guard.

Blake pushes Vernon off and scrambles back to his feet.

Blake shoots for a double leg takedown but Vernon sprawls well. He's pushed Blake's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Blake gets in close and instigates a clinch.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Vernon is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Blake sees it coming and defends easily.

Vernon looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Vernon stalling away here and it's allowed Blake to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.
Blake looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Vernon puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Blake might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vernon in particular looking to stall.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Blake makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Blake.
Blake wants to stand but Vernon is controlling the position.
Blake keeping moving, preventing Vernon from controlling successfully.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.
Vernon chopping away at his opponent's legs.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Vernon moves into the clinch.
Blake tries to break free but Vernon pushes him back against the cage.

Vernon works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derrick Vernon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Vernon shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Blake napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Blake throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Blake clinches up with Vernon and pushes him back against the cage.
Blake is trying to pull guard but Vernon turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Vernon pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Vernon fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Blake wants to clinch up but Vernon keeps it at a distance.

Vernon takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vernon has Blake pressed against the cage.
Vernon blocking some punches.

Vernon escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Vernon has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Blake has Vernon up against the cage in a clinch.

Blake drags the fight down to the ground.
Blake is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Blake keeping moving, preventing Vernon from controlling successfully.
Vernon is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Blake looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Vernon's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Vernon stands up and waves to Blake to follow him.

Blake tries to sprawl but Vernon drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Blake manages to escape and get back to his feet!
Blake shoots in looking for a takedown. Vernon tries to sprawl out of it but Blake keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Vernon manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Blake on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Blake dives in and scores a takedown into Vernon's guard.

Vernon wriggles free and stands up.

Blake gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Blake is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Vernon lands a couple of digs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Vernon fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Blake manages to avoid it.
