The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mel throws a nice looking combination but Decker bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Horrible takedown attempt by Decker or perhaps it was just good defense by Mel, which made it look bad.
Decker shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mel pinned against the cage. Mel gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Mel looks to land a combination but Decker avoids it well.
Decker misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Decker goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
A left and a right from Mel both land. Nice combination.

It looks like Branden Decker has been cut.
Decker uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Mel has time to react.
Melle Mel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Decker feints and as Mel raises his hands in defense, Decker changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Mel is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Decker presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.

Mel is pressed up against the cage. Decker has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Mel down to the mat. Mel avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Decker throws a leg kick but Mel sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Decker's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Mel connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Decker scrambles back to his feet.
Decker lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Mel backs up against the cage.
Mel steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Decker is out on his feet! Mel sets himself and nearly takes Decker's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!
