Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Thiago Gomes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Douglas Murray!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Dirk Anderson and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Murray throws a sloppy head kick

and Gomes counters with a single leg into guard. Murray didn't expect that.
Gomes chips away with some ground and pound.

Gomes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Murray has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Gomes has managed to get both his arms back between Murray's legs - danger averted.
Gomes passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Gomes is putting a hurting on Murray here, landing some big shots from side control.
Murray takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Murray is not content to let Gomes control the position.

Gomes looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Gomes in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Gomes trying to control the position but Murray is working away.
Gomes grinds an elbow into Murray's temple.

Gomes tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gomes has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gomes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Gomes is putting a hurting on Murray here, landing some big shots from side control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Gomes grinds an elbow into Murray's temple.
Murray is not content to let Gomes control the position.
Gomes works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.
Gomes lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Murray really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gomes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Gomes wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Murray, who protects the arm well.

Gomes is working for what looks like an arm triangle here. Murray is trying to escape and Gomes transitions quickly into an armbar! He's slapped it on tight and Murray is forced to tap! Nice work there by Gomes! Very nice indeed!
