Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between James Walter (ranked 25394 p4p, 0 weight class) and Desmond Hillard (ranked 6560 p4p, 0 weight class). James Walter has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, James Walter!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Desmond Hillard!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hillard fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Walter avoids it really well and circles away.
Hillard fails with a takedown attempt.
Hillard avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Walter fails to land the takedown.
Hillard tries to counter by closing the distance.
Walter dives in for a single leg takedown but Hillard sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A nice combination there by Walter.


It looks like Desmond Hillard has been cut.
Hillard defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Walter.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Walter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Walter goes for a double leg but Hillard avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Hillard continues to drive forward.
Walter shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Hillard sprawls well. Hillard wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Walter gets slowly back to his feet.
Despite the aggression on Hillard's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Walter tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hillard just stands there and leans against the cage.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Hillard looking for a sweep. Not yet Hillard, not yet.
Hillard keeps trying to improve his position.
Walter being controlled here momentarily.
Hillard is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Hillard has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Walter can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Hillard lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Walter wants to sweep but no luck.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Walter is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hillard dives into side control.
Walter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Hillard fails to land a wild elbow strike.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Hillard misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
Walter on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Walter tries to get out of the position.
Walter pushes Hillard away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Hillard gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Hillard tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hillard's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Hillard looking to secure an arm triangle but Walter defends it well.
Hillard has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Walter's face.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Walter tries to pull guard but Hillard holds him up against the cage and eventually Walter drops back down to his feet.

Hillard is pressed up against the cage. Walter has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hillard down to the mat. Hillard avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Hillard darts in looking for a takedown but Walter gets double underhooks and turns Hillard into the cage.

Hillard is pressed up against the cage. Walter has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Hillard down to the mat. Hillard avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Hillard goes for a double leg but Walter avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Walter continues to drive forward.
The fight stays on the outside here - Walter looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Walter wants to clinch up but Hillard keeps it at a distance.

Walter looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Walter shoots in and bounces Hillard off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.

Hillard has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Walter off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Walter is looking to clinch but Hillard is avoiding it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hillard! But no joy.
Walter darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
Nice uppercut lands for Hillard. That snapped Walter's head back.
Hillard closes the distance and clinches up with Walter, looking for a takedown. Hillard pushes Walter against the cage but Walter circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Hillard is trying hard to land a takedown here. Walter sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Hillard is breathing heavily.
Hillard tries for a takedown but Walter sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Walter shoots in but no luck this time.

Walter bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Walter wants to take a breather but Hillard manages to regain guard - a lesson learnt for Walter.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Desmond Hillard showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Walter gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Hillard counters by moving into the clinch.

Hillard's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Sloppy strikes from Hillard. Those never looked like landing.
Walter throws a body kick that misses.
Walter stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Walter wants it to stay on the feet.

Hillard clinches.
Hillard drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Walter gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Walter escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Walter wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Hillard has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Walter uses from the top position.

Hillard takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Walter is trying to force a seperation but Hillard has the dominant position.
Hillard has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Walter has had enough of the clinch but Hillard keeps him there for the moment.

Walter has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Hillard manages to pull guard.
Hillard throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Hillard has his feet on Walter's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Walter closes the distance and clinches up with Hillard, looking for a takedown. Walter pushes Hillard against the cage but Hillard circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Walter shoots in looking for a takedown but Hillard manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Walter's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Well Hillard has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
