PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Chinawoot Somwan (ranked 4506 p4p, 538 weight class) and Janusz Tracz (ranked 4601 p4p, 551 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Chinawoot Somwan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Janusz Tracz!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Bart Greer and Peter Branson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tracz gets a double leg takedown into Somwan's guard.
Tracz seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Somwan wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Tracz is now in half guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tracz wants to pass to mount but Somwan is defending the position.

Tracz takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Somwan on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Somwan tries to get out of the position.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
A looping hook to the body misses from Somwan. Tracz does a little dance to reset his feet.
The fighters circling - Somwan throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Tracz with the counter takedown but Somwan avoids it easily.
Somwan definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Somwan misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Tracz has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
Tracz uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Somwan.
Tracz misses the shot to the body.
Tracz takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Somwan misses with a hook. Tracz ducked under it nicely.
Somwan swings for the body but Tracz moves out of range.
Somwan connects with a single shot there.
Chinawoot Somwan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tracz moves out of range of the strikes.
Somwan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Tracz swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Somwan counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Somwan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tracz moves away.
Somwan throws a lazy uppercut

and Tracz counters with a single leg into guard. Somwan didn't expect that.
Somwan wants to get back to his feet but Tracz passes into half guard.

Tracz's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
It looks like Tracz might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Chinawoot Somwan will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Tracz misses with a looping right.
Tracz throws a shot from downtown. Somwan moves away and avoids it.
Somwan swung with a counter punch to the body but it didn't connect.
Tracz staying out of range there.
Tracz drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Somwan defends it well.
Tracz throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Tracz throws a right and a left that both miss.
Somwan went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Tracz misses with a left hand
and Somwan counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Tracz throws an ugly left hook that misses
enabling Somwan to counter with a crisp jab.
Somwan throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Tracz misses with a wild body shot.

Tracz shoots in for a double leg but Somwan sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Tracz dives in and grabs Somwan's left leg, looking for a takedown. Somwan pushes down on Tracz's head and hops out.
Tracz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Somwan sprawls well. Somwan wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Tracz gets slowly back to his feet.
Somwan tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Tracz manages to circle out of the way.
Chinawoot Somwan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Janusz Tracz.

Tracz misses with an uppercut
and Somwan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Tracz swings widly with a right hand
and Somwan cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Chinawoot Somwan is winning the standup battle so far.
Somwan loads up on a big right hand but Tracz slips the punch.
Tracz misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Somwan.

Tracz throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Somwan tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tracz is in Somwan's guard.
Tracz not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Janusz Tracz has got the better of the ground game so far.
Tracz sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Somwan's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Tracz is looking to advance position but Somwan won't allow it.
Somwan is looking to control Tracz's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Somwan avoid being mounted?

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Tracz controlling the pace.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Somwan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Somwan ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Tracz moves away.
Somwan connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Somwan scores with a nice right hand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Somwan jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Somwan dips to his left and cracks Tracz with an uppercut!
Nice takedown defense from Somwan. No joy for Tracz on that attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chinawoot Somwan dominated that second round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Somwan scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Tracz throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Tracz looks to throw the jab but Somwan is out of range.
Tracz walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Somwan with a nice cross.


Tracz is rocked!
BAM! Somwan delivers a spinning backfist that drops Tracz like a ragdoll! This is all oooooveeeer! He was out before he hit the ground!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:52 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Spinning Backfist). Chinawoot Somwan!
A less than humble Chinawoot Somwan misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
