Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yen Askren (ranked 3089 p4p, 364 weight class) and Tony Fry (ranked 4016 p4p, 457 weight class). Askren's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Hello from the Askren Side. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Yen Askren!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tony Fry!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fry bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Fry is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Askren knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Askren wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
Askren bucks up and tries to throw Fry off but instead Fry has got his back!
I really don't envy Askren right now.
Fry misses with an elbow to the head.
Askren covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
Askren might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Askren rolls, trying to escape but Fry keeps control of the position.

Fry patiently working for the choke. Which fighter will keep their nerve here?
Fry punishes Askren with strikes from the back mount.
Fry lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Askren hold on?!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Fry has the hooks in. Askren is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
Fry lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Fry.

Askren is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Fry struggling to land strikes to the head as Askren covers up.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
You can see the frustration on Askren's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Fry lands with a hammerfist to the side of Askren's head.
Fry is hanging on to Askren's back as he tries to escape.
Fry has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Fry gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes.
Fry is raining down hard shots and and Askren has had enough - he's tapped out due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Tony Fry!
Tony Fry made sure to give a little speech post fight, saying 'Im not calling the champion for a title shot. Infact Im the one that should do the calling. But Im not interested for that one at the moment. but for the meantime. Im calling for a challenger. YOU WANT SOME THEN COME AND GET SOME!!! '.
Yen Askren spoke after the fight, saying 'I blame Bjorn and the Egg.'.
