And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Russell Pearce and Jonathan Paton.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Root clinches up against the cage.
Pope looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Root tries for a takedown. No joy.
Root jumps guard.
Root looking for a sweep. Not yet Root, not yet.
Root is avoiding any damage by keeping wrist control.
Root has his foot on Pope's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pope works his way back into a safe position though.
Pope wants to stand but Root has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Root manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pope manages to get himself to full guard.
Root looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pope pushes Root off and gets back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Root closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Root in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Pope is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
