PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jin Sen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Paolo Mendez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sen's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Let It Rock. Mendez has chosen Jay-Z - Brooklyn We Go Hard as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jin Sen!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Paolo Mendez!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mendez is looking to clinch but Sen is avoiding it.
Sen throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Mendez.
Sen missing with a left hand there. Mendez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Sen misses with a wild body shot.
Sen throws a nice head kick!
Mendez throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Sen counters with a right hand to the body.
Sen throws a hook to the side of Mendez's head but Mendez sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Sen.
Sen is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Mendez.
Sen scores with a jab. Mendez acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mendez walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Sen throws a series of punches but Mendez avoids them all with ease.

Mendez lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Sen or not.
Mendez prevents Sen from breaking the clinch.
Sen wants to break free but Mendez has control.

Mendez is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Mendez's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Mendez fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sen sprawls well initially but Mendez persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Mendez is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Sen reverses the position - he's now on top in Mendez's guard.
Mendez is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Mendez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sen tries to avoid it but Mendez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sen to the ground. Sen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Sen pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Sen throws a shot from downtown. Mendez moves away and avoids it.
Mendez is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Sen rather than just go for the knockout.

Sen scores with a one two! Mendez had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mendez tries to land a sweep but no joy.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

It's got to the stage where if one of these guys blows hard enough, the other might fall over.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
