PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Zack Porter (ranked 25392 p4p, 0 weight class) and Deqon Sims (ranked 4188 p4p, 0 weight class). Sims has chosen Dmx as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Porter has taken the fight to the clinch.
Sims just leaning against Porter, taking a breather.
The referee calls for Porter to work.
Porter stalls.
The crowd are getting pretty annoyed with Porter for his constant stalling in the clinch and are voicing their displeasure.

Sims lands a takedown into guard.
Porter could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sims tries to free his leg and advance position but Porter is retaining full guard.
Sims trying to control but Porter is working from the bottom.
Porter might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Sims passes easily into side control. Nice work.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sims swings around for an armbar but Porter sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Sims's guard.
Sims looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Porter puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Porter content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.

Porter is taking a breather. Sims says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Porter wants to control but Sims is keeping him busy.
Porter lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Sims is trying to control but Porter manages to pass to mount!

Sims holds on to Porter around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.

Sims is looking to improve his position but Porter isn't that keen on the idea.
Porter lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Porter unloads with some shots from mount but Sims bucks and avoids them well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Porter lands with some strikes.
Porter tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Sims working to try and regain half guard.
Porter trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Poor strikes thrown by Porter there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sims wants to hold on but Porter pushes him away.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Porter cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Sims is wriggling around trying to escape.
Porter looking to control and managing it successfully.
Sims tries to hold on but Porter pushes him away.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Sims bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Sims moves into the clinch.
Sims just leaning against Porter, taking a breather.
Porter is trying to break the clinch but Sims has him pressed against the cage.
Sims looking to stall.
Sims is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Porter is keeping busy.
Sims is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.

Porter gets control of Sims's arms and successfully pulls guard. Porter will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sims wants to stand but Porter has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Porter pulls Sims in close to his closed guard and prevents Sims from doing any damage or advancing position.

Sims wants to get up but he can't break Porter's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Sims stands and steps away. Porter gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Porter closes the distance and clinches.

Porter pulls Sims into guard.

Sims wants to control from the top but Porter keeps moving.

Sims drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Porter dives on top into guard.

Porter passes into half guard under a barage of strikes.
Sims is trying to get back to full guard.
Porter is nestled in close to Sims, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Sims is looking to control Porter's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Sims avoid being mounted?

Porter is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Sims is staying active underneath Porter, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Sims avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Porter.
Sims wants to control but Porter is keeping busy.
Sims has hold of Porter's hands but Porter slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Still in half guard, Porter seems content to control.
Sims missing with punches from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Sims keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Porter is trying to control. Sims wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Sims closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Sims is trying to ground and pound but Porter uses the momentary lack of control by Sims to regain half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Sims is stalling here. Porter is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Sims seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Porter has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Sims tries to clinch up but Porter circles away and keeps his distance.
Porter tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Sims manages to circle out of the way.

Sims closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Porter quickly recovers to half guard.

Porter kicks Sims off and gets back to his feet.
Sims circles away from the clinch attempt.
As Porter backs off Sims throws a huge counter combo but Porter manages to avoid it all.
Deqon Sims seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Porter gets caught flat footed, as Sims shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Porter wriggles free and stands up.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Porter rushes Sims and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Porter is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Sims to keep the fight standing.

Porter tries to pull guard but Sims forces him back to his feet, against the cage.
Sims stops a takedown attempt from Porter.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Zack Porter. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Sims breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Sims fails in his attempt to clinch.
Porter tries to counter with a takedown but Sims is quick to defend against it.

Sims darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Porter manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Sims keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.
Sims wants to break free but Porter has control.

Porter is fighting off a takedown attempt but Sims is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Porter to the mat. Porter regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

The fighters are working up against the cage. Porter manages to wriggle his way back to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched against the cage.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Sims has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Porter clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Sims's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Porter tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!

Sims avoids the attempt from Porter to control.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sims goes for an armbar but Porter turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Porter.
Porter is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sims can do to turn this around?
Porter is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Porter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
