PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between George Nassar (ranked 1194 p4p, 130 weight class) and Royal Pain (ranked 2319 p4p, 234 weight class). Pain comes into a darkened arena with his song building. AC/DC Thunderstruck kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, George Nassar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 11 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Royal Pain!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Paul Tew and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pain tries to close the distance and clinch but Nassar swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Nassar is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Nassar displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.


It looks like Royal Pain has been cut.
Good exchange - Nassar coming out on top.
Nassar looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Nassar takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Nassar throws a body shot but no joy.
Pain looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Nassar works Pain's body with a nice hook.
Nassar will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Royal Pain seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Nassar!
This has been an exciting period of action!
A thudding body kick lands there by Pain!
Pain scores with a nice strike.
Nassar misses with a jab, cross combination.
Nassar with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Pain to score with a decent uppercut.
Nassar fails to land with a series of punches.
Pain misses the jab.

Pain drives through and clinches with Nassar against the cage.

Nassar ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Nassar no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Pain drops back looking for a leg! Nassar is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Nassar manages to kick Pain off! Pain jumps back into Nassar's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Pain won't allow Nassar to sweep him here.
Pain wants to control from the top but Nassar keeps moving.
Pain advances position into side control!
Pain throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Nassar is not content to let Pain control the position.
Nassar gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
BOOM! Pain connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Pain scoring with strikes but Nassar is staying in there.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Pain working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well.
Nassar is wriggling around here but as he tries to escape, Pain has taken his back.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Pain tightening his grip on Nassar, looking for the choke.
Nassar takes a big shot to the side of the head.

Pain sinks in the hooks and is looking for the choke. He's got it! Nassar taps out!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Royal Pain!
