Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kelvin Bang (ranked 2206 p4p, 320 weight class) and Jimmy McLarnin (ranked 5503 p4p, 635 weight class). Kelvin Bang could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Jimmy McLarnin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kelvin Bang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jimmy McLarnin!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, William Gold and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bang uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before McLarnin has time to react.
McLarnin sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
McLarnin avoids the head kick by Bang.
McLarnin now looks to counter with a shot at the body.
Bang tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McLarnin swivels and escapes.
McLarnin keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Bang throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Bang doesn't manage to clinch there - McLarnin circles away.
Bang throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
McLarnin throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
McLarnin throws a series of punches but Bang moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bang misses with a takedown attempt - McLarnin sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kelvin Bang. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Bang takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

enabling McLarnin to counter with a crisp jab.
McLarnin lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Bang circles away quickly and effectively.
McLarnin stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bang.
Bang tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but McLarnin swivels and escapes.
McLarnin tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
McLarnin swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Bang fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
McLarnin replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Bang blocks it well.
No luck for Bang with that takedown attempt.

Bang misses with a wild combination.
McLarnin displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Bang.
McLarnin takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Bang moves into the clinch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Bang has dropped down and is working for a takedown. McLarnin is trying to keep an underhook but Bang manages to get the takedown into half guard.

McLarnin makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!
Bang closes the distance and clinches up with McLarnin, looking for a takedown. Bang pushes McLarnin against the cage but McLarnin circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
McLarnin unleashes a big counter combination but Bang bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
McLarnin throws a jab when Bang was well out of range.
Bang tries a head kick but it misses.

Bang feints and as McLarnin raises his hands in defense, Bang changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

McLarnin scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Bang misses with a double jab.
Bang throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
It seemed like McLarnin was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Bang throws a body shot but no joy.
McLarnin throws out a counter right but Bang avoids it with no problem.
McLarnin misses with a few strikes there.
McLarnin throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A low kick from Bang misses
and McLarnin counters with a low kick, right behind Bang 's knee.

Bang closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Bang lands in his opponent's guard.
McLarnin wants to stand up but Bang is controlling him.

Bang trying to control the position from guard on top but McLarnin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Bang postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Bang distracts McLarnin with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
Bang is in close to McLarnin's body, working some short punches and elbows.

McLarnin pushes Bang off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Bang closes this distance looking for a takedown but McLarnin circles away.
Kelvin Bang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bang tries to clinch up.
McLarnin slips a straight right by Bang.
McLarnin doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Jimmy McLarnin will probably get the nod.

McLarnin avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
McLarnin looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Kelvin Bang is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Bang tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but McLarnin defends well and Bang ends up having to push McLarnin into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Bang tries to score a power double leg takedown but McLarnin sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Bang somewhat.

Bang stands up over McLarnin, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

McLarnin has managed to wall walk up one of the corner posts to get back to his feet. Bang is pushing him up against the cage, looking to control the position.
With the fighters up against the cage, Bang throws an elbow but misses.
Bang lands with a short shot to the head.

Bang has McLarnin pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Bang pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending McLarnin tumbling to the mat - Bang dives into McLarnin's guard.
McLarnin is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Bang is controlling him.

Bang passes McLarnin's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bang not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Bang seems to be working for a kimura but McLarnin defends the submission attempt.
McLarnin is trying to stand back up but Bang is controlling him

McLarnin is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Bang presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
McLarnin wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Bang misses with a short punch on the inside.
Bang misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Bang looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Bang breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Bang throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
McLarnin throws out a counter right but Bang avoids it with no problem.
McLarnin lands a two punch combo.
Bang dodges the punch combination from McLarnin.
Bang gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and McLarnin counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Bang doesn't succeed with the takedown
and McLarnin cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Bang shoots and misses
enabling McLarnin to counter with a crisp jab.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Bang is defended easily by McLarnin.
McLarnin getting the better of the striking in that exchange.


Bang is rocked!
McLarnin missing with a left hand there. Bang was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Bang connects with an inside leg kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy McLarnin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!


Bang thuds his shin into the meat of McLarnin's side.
McLarnin has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Bang misses with a takedown
and McLarnin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Oh Bang is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Bang swings for the body but McLarnin moves out of range.
Bang seems to have got his legs back now.
Bang lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
Bang fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and McLarnin has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Bang fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Bang wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Bang is pressing down on McLarnin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Bang looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Bang is trying to keep McLarnin in close.
McLarnin trying to control the position from guard on top but Bang is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Bang looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! McLarnin has picked Bang up and slammed him! Bang can't keep hold of the triangle and McLarnin manages to pass to side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

McLarnin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Bang, who protects the arm well.
Kelvin Bang has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

McLarnin stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Bang throws a sloppy head kick
and McLarnin counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
McLarnin takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards.

Bang throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. McLarnin was covering up waiting for the punch and Bang finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Bang trying to control but McLarnin is working from the bottom.
Bang is looking to work some ground and pound but McLarnin has wrist control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Bang prevents McLarnin from getting back to his feet.

Bang scoring with some ground and pound.
McLarnin wants to get back to his feet but Bang is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Bang lands a couple of elbows.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
McLarnin stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Bang.
Bang tries to clinch
and McLarnin counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Bang moves into the clinch.
Bang drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kelvin Bang. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Bang jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as McLarnin walks away with a smile on his face. Bang gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bang throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and McLarnin counters with a stiff right hand.
Some wild striking there from McLarnin.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jimmy McLarnin.
I've got McLarnin winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
