Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Robert Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Robert Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky Lee!
The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith fails with the takedown.

Smith moves into the clinch.

Smith has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Lee is trying to keep an underhook but Smith manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Lee tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.

Smith is looking for a kimura here.
Lee is trying to control but can't.
Lee is looking to get back to full guard here but Smith has managed to pass to side control instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Lee keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Smith avoids the attempt from Lee to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Lee tries to reverse the position but Smith maintains control.

Smith is going olschool here, as he tries to force Lee to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Lee shrugs it off.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lee is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Lee can do anything to dispel that myth.

Smith swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Lee is now in Smith's guard. A big mistake from Smith there, giving up the dominant position!
Lee must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Smith not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Smith lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lee!
Lee tries to improve his position but instead Smith has taken his back!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Smith somehow managing to miss with a strike from the back.

Smith has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Smith controls the position.
Lee rolls, trying to escape but Smith keeps control of the position.

Smith is looking to control Lee but Lee is wriggling around and keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Lee fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Smith sprawls well initially but Lee persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Smith has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Lee is working away from the top position though.
Lee tries to pass the half guard into mount. Smith knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Smith is looking to escape.
Smith trying to hold on to Lee's head to control him but Lee postures up.
Lee wants to lay and pray for a moment but Smith keeps working.

Lee prevents Smith from improving his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Lee misses with a takedown attempt
and Smith counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Lee thinking.

Smith shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Smith was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Lee is trying to reverse the position but instead Smith has taken his back - oops!

Lee is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Smith.
Smith controlling well, preventing Lee from escaping the position.
A bit of a pause in the action here. Smith controlling the positon.
Smith's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

Smith lands shots from the back.
Smith struggling to keep hold of the position.
Lee is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Smith.
Smith has the hooks in. Lee is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Smith lands an elbow to the side of the head.
Smith is hanging on to Lee's back as he tries to escape.
Smith struggling to land strikes to the head as Lee covers up.

Smith is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.

Lee is in a bad position with Smith working for a choke. Lee manages to spin nicely into guard and the danger is over for the moment.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Smith tries to land a front kick but Lee steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Smith plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!


It looks like Ricky Lee has been cut.
Smith moves in looking to clinch but Lee pushes him off.

Smith feints and as Lee raises his hands in defense, Smith changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Lee wants to sweep here but Smith controlling him for the moment.
Smith passes Lee's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Lee trying to control but Smith postures up.

Smith is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Smith trying to control the action but Lee is working from the bottom.
Lee trying to control but Smith postures up.
Lee really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Lee is staying active underneath Smith, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Smith wants to pass the guard but Lee is defending well.
Lee is looking to control Smith's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Lee avoid being mounted?

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Smith prevents Lee from improving his position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Lee shoots and misses

and Smith counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Smith slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Smith trying to control but Lee is working from the bottom.
Smith stands and throws Lee's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Ricky Lee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Lee is trying to control Smith's posture but Smith avoids it.
Smith takes a little break here. Lee wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Smith lands a nice forearm strike.
Smith trying to control the action but Lee is working from the bottom.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Lee wants to control but Smith postures up.
Smith trying to control the position but Lee is working away.
Lee takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Smith has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

And that's the end of the fight!
Robert Smith showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Smith has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
