The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bawdeep tries to close the distance and clinch but Richard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Bawdeep sizes up Richard with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Richard could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Bawdeep doesn't manage to clinch there - Richard circles away.
Richard looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

Bawdeep closes the distance and pushes Richard back into the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Richard tightens his grip and picks Bawdeep up, before dumping him to the ground. Bawdeep manages to land in guard.
Richard lands a couple of elbows.

Bawdeep is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.

Bawdeep shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Richard's guard.

Richard jumps guard and drags Bawdeep to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Bawdeep really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Richard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

It looked like Richard wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Bawdeep shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Bawdeep showed some decent athleticism there.

Richard has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Bawdeep is on him like a limpet, forcing Richard back against the cage.
